Wish I was there ~ John Wiley’s Australia

 It’s high summer down under

I’m missing you there,

imagining the heat.

The kookaburra laughing

in the red dust days,

and the eucalyptus breeze

near a white sand beach

off the beaten trail,

watching slow boats sail

through the wavering air

I wish I was there.

Dec 2022

write a poem titled “Wish You Were Here” that takes its inspiration from the idea of a postcard. Consistent with the abbreviated format of a postcard, your poem should be short, and should play with the idea of travel, distance, or sightseeing.
